Destiny 2 Xur location and items, Nov. 17-20

If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and he can now appear all over the map. This week, he’s just northeast of the Rig Landing Zone on Titan and there’s a helpful icon on the planet map to show you exactly where he is.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:

  • Hard Light, auto rifle: 29 Legendary Shards
  • Lucky Raspberry, Hunter chest: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Synthoceps, Titan gauntlets: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Karnstein Armlets, Warlock gauntlets: 23 Legendary Shards

Each of the items comes at a maximum power level of 270 — a base power of 265, plus a Legendary (purple) mod that raises the value by five. This scales to your character’s power level, so make sure you’re buying Xur exotics on your highest level character.

Hard Light is one of those rare cases where the weapon quality depends entirely on the platform you play Destiny 2 on. For console players, the recoil of this gun makes it extremely difficult to use. This essentially nullifies one of it’s major perks, Volatile Light, which causes the projectiles fired to have no damage fall of at range as well as pierce targets and ricochet off walls. The recoil is barely stable enough to hit an enemy within shotgun range, let alone far away.

If you’re playing on PC and have the stability of a mouse, Hard Light actually has a lot of potential. Since it can rotate elements on the fly, it’s also very useful for the Nightfall during Prism weeks. If you’re on console, you can feel fine skipping the weapon this week, but PC players shouldn’t ignore a chance to get this very fun gun.

The Hunter exotic this week is Lucky Raspberry. The main perk here is Probability Matrix, which enhances your Arc Bolt grenade, giving it a chance to reset after dealing damage and causing it to chain more effectively. Considering the sorry state of the Arcstrider subclass, it’s hard to recommend this chest for either PvP or PvE activities.

The Titan exotics are the Synthoceps whose exotic perk, Biotic Enhancement, allows Titans to have increased melee lunge range and deal more melee damage when surrounded. These gauntlets are decent for PvE but really shine in a PvP environment. If you like to play aggressively in the Crucible, you should absolutely pick these up.

The Karnstein Armlets are fun, decent Warlock exotics. The exotic perk, Vampire’s Caress, will grant health regeneration, melee ability energy, class ability energy and grenade energy on melee attacks. Similar to the Titan offering this week, the Karnstein Armlets are nice for PvE but great in PvP. Warlocks aren’t known for getting in the thick of things, but if you like to punch when playing Destiny 2, these gauntlets should be picked up immediately.
